Dr. Smita Parikh Mengers is a board-certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics who has been caring for children and families for more than 30 years. She has been honored as one of the Best Pediatriciansby readers of Washington Families Magazine and is a member of The Leading Physicians of the World.

Dr. Mengers was born in India and moved to the United States at the age of seven, growing up in Chillicothe, Ohio. Her early life experiences helped shape a deep appreciation for family, community, and compassionate care. She graduated magna cum laude from Case Western Reserve University with a degree in Medical Anthropology and earned her medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. She later completed her pediatric residency at Georgetown University Hospital in the Washington, D.C. area.

She has been serving families in Montgomery County since 1992 and opened her own private pediatric practice in 1999. One of the most meaningful parts of her work is building long-lasting relationships with families and watching children grow from newborns into confident, healthy young adults. Often caring for siblings and multiple generations within the same family.

Dr. Mengers is on staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital (Germantown). She also serves on the newborn peer review committee at Holy Cross Hospital and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Adventist Physicians Alliance.

With a special interest in travel medicine, Dr. Mengers has participated in medical mission trips abroad. She is fluent in Gujarati and also speaks some Spanish and Hindi, helping families from many backgrounds feel comfortable and understood.

When she’s not in the office, Dr. Mengers enjoys traveling, hiking, and gardening. She loves spending time with her husband, Tim, their two daughters, son, and their beloved pets.
