Smita Parikh Mengers, MD, F.A.A.P
Dr. Smita Parikh Mengers was recently named "Among the Best Pediatricians" by readers of Washington Families Magazine. Dr. Mengers graduated magna-cum laude from Case Western Reserve University with a bachelor's degree in anthropology. She received medical training at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. Dr. Mengers completed her pediatric residency at Georgetown University Hospital.
She has been practicing Pediatric Medicine in Maryland since 1992, when she joined a private practice in Montgomery county. Dr. Mengers has had her own practice since 1999.
Dr. Mengers is Board Certified in Pediatrics, and has a special interest in travel medicine. She is on the faculty at George Washington University, and enjoys teaching students from the university in her office. Dr. Mengers is also on the staff of Shady Grove Hospital.
She enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Tim, and their three children (two girls and a boy). Dr. Mengers and her husband are active volunteers for Boy Scouts of America and American Field Service ( foreign exchange students ).
Wendy VanBronkhorst, MD, F.A.A.P
Dr. VanBronkhorst, a Gaithersburg native, is thrilled to be practicing pediatrics in Montgomery County. She graduated with a degree in biology from Haverford College, and taught preschool before entering medical school.
Dr. VanBronkhorst earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester, NY. She completed her internship and residency training at the Inova Hospital for Children in Falls Church, Virginia, and has a special interest in Adolescent Medicine.
Dr. VanBronkhorst has three children, and is pleased to be in practice with Dr. Mengers. She looks forward to meeting you and helping you care for your children.
Alan Figelman, MD, F.A.A.P
Dr. Figelman, is a experienced pediatrican serving infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. He has extensive knowledge relative to adolescent medicine, sports medicine, child behavoir and development, infant care and infectious disease. He is a published author of a book: Keeping Young Athletes Healthy, Simon & Schuster 1991. He has been a great addition to our practice.
Jennifer Stinson, RN, BSN, I.B.C.L.C. ( Currently on Medical Leave )
Jennifer Stinson is a registered nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Jennifer graduated from Marymount University with a BS in Nursing. Before joining Dr. Mengers, she spent 25 years at Shady Grove Hospital; the last 15 of those years, Jennifer worked on the Maternal/Child Unit.
Jennifer enjoys helping new moms learn to breastfeed and is willing to do home visits to make things easier for those moms and their new babies. She loves the personal attention she can give her patients working at Dr. Mengers office -- and the joy of being able to watch them grow-up!
